I am looking to buy a 1965 long bed step side. Can you guys give me a thought on value? See pics. Looks to be pretty solid. Assume solid floors and corners. min. rust repair
thanks Chris

My opinion...Consider asking price, condition, and the price you would pay. Price is unknown, but it really boils down to the price you will pay.

Re: 1965 Long bed step side
3 negatives
1. Least popular body style-67-72 and square bodies usually dictate higher price 2. Step side-more people want fleetsides 3. Long bed-more people want shortbeds That being said, if it’s solid truck and you like it, pay what you think is fair. I personally wouldn’t pay more than 4K for it but that’s just me. |

Re: 1965 Long bed step side
This is for a buddy of mine, he is thinking of replacing his 70 fleetside with this. He likes this better, so going to look at it if the price comes back in the ballpark. We are thinking $4-$5K depending on rust. He needs a new project.

Re: 1965 Long bed step side
Check for rust in the rockers, cab corners, floor pans, bedsides where they sit on the wood, bottom of front fenders, top front of inner fenders, rear outer corner of front inner fenders under the lip of the outer fenders, each corner of hood and along front of hood both inside and out, door bottoms in and out, bottom of rear fenders where they meet the step, and most importantly, roof panel around windshield both inside and outside.
I know, a lot to look at, but heavy amounts of rust in the roof means it probably has rust all the way throughout the cab. My 63 has rust in the roof which has made everything else below it where water could pool up begin to rust out. I wish I knew what I know now about how these trucks rust when I first got my truck. I probably should have passed on it back then because of the rust, but it was complete and cheap enough, and not original enough, that I won't feel bad when my rust repairs don't end up being super expensive, show truck worthy repairs

Re: 1965 Long bed step side
I would buy it in a heartbeat if it was local. Don't like putting a number value on it unless I see it in person.

Re: 1965 Long bed step side
I would too if it was in my price range. I used to turn my nose up at long bed step-sides but I see them now as unique and different, not your "normal" truck by any means....
