55.2-59 Old bed wood needed

The wood in my '55 long bed is mostly good, I'd like to keep it. There are two or three boards that should be replaced but I don't want new wood. I'm in Oregon but driving to Mesa Az for the winter and could stop on the way if anyone wants to sell me a few used slats. Thanks, Bob

You can probably find some old straight grain yellow pine boards that have the proper aging that you can just trim and cut the grooves for the strips and by spring they will look like the rest of the wood in the bed.

I'm sure, around your parts, there are lots of old barns where you could get a few pieces.

You can artificially age new wood with a mix of vinegar and steel wool. Let 00 steel wool dissolve in vinegar a couple of days, then wipe on the wood. Let it sit overnight to see how dark it is before adding any more, then repeat as necessary to achieve a close match.

sand blasting will make new wood old fast
combined with vinegar & steel wool might be what you want

I've done this, it works well.
