Firewall wire and cable question.

On the passenger side where the cable from the HVAC controls comes through the firewall. Does the blower motor wire also come out that same grommet. If not where are they supposed to exit from the passenger compartment.

on my 72 AC/Heater Truck they are routed this way.


now looking at my photo, I think I need to replace one of those vacuum lines .... great, just what I need to do.... go digging around under the dash!

Thanks. I Think I have the compressor wire coming out by the vacuum lines. But the blower motor is coming out with the cable?

And like most of everything else on this Blazer everything is in need of repair or wrong. Solid body but a serious lack of maintenance. I’m working on it.

Can't speak for a Blazer but I thought they had the same setup as a Truck.... unless what you have is an add-on AC (not factory)? With the movement of the control cable, I would think it could move back/forth on the power wire and over time cut into the wire's insulation.

They should be the same. Previous owner painted interior, so everything was removed at 1 point. Factory AC (missing lots of parts even though I was told "just the compressor") The cable is in a sheath so I don't think it would damage the wire but if I am changing the under dash and AC harness, I should do it correct.

I am not sure what I was thinking about the compressor wire (I translated that as compressor line).

You are correct that the actual cable is inside a sheath but that sheath can wiggle a bit with someone is man handling the controls back and forth. Though likely correct, very low chance of eating into the wire if the sheath is held down on the little tie down claps.


My compressor wire meet up with the blower wire (very close to the blower) and becomes one harness / wrapped up then goes into the hole in my photo.
