Tire sizes
I'm wanting to get a 305/40/20
On a 20x12 rim on rear of a 71 chevy C10. Will it fit.?? If so what back spacing

If you have 15 inches of room between the frame and the outer lip of the fender it might fit.

Here is a picture of a 315/35/20 on a 20x11 wheel. Wheels are measured between the tire mounting surfaces so a 20x11 has an overall lip to lip measurement of 20x12. If you put a 305 tire on 12" wheel the wheel lip will stick out further than the tire sidewall. You will probably need widened wheel tubs if your truck is lowered. There are quite a few threads that discuss backspace just need to search the forum.
