454 engine identification

I have an 83 C20 camper special with a 454.

It has a GM remanufactured engine (part number 12339193, which is still available from GM for about $3900.)

There is a brass tag on the side of the block identifying it as a GM reman, and a casting mark near it which seems to state "Hi Perf Pass."

Is there a difference between a truck 454 block and a passenger car 454 or are they all "Hi Perf?"

Where would I find the block casting stamp that would show the date of manufacture of the block?

Re: 454 engine identification

That Hi Perf Pass is on a lot of GM engines. It is on my 1970 Chevelle BB 454 as well that WAS NOT a SS. It is also on the 781 heads in that engine saying "HI Perf Pass"
