3 point seatbelts for a 72 C-10

What are you guys using for shoulder & lap belts ? Not too concerned about originality, but don't care for some of the "universal" aftermarket belts on Ebay & other sites. Would a stock set from a later model squarebody work ?
My 72 has the threaded hole with a cap on it in the rear cab upright.
Thanks in advance ! Pics of your setup would be great.

Re: 3 point seatbelts for a 72 C-10

I also used later model GM truck seat belts. I can't remember if my seat belts were from the front or rear seats of an 88 Suburban? You can do a search on the board here. I added a photo of my seat belt set up on a similar post back about a year ago.

I also have some photos that might show a good pic in my signature links.

- Just remember to use factory seat belt hold down bolts. Anything involving safety such as seat belts, brake pedal, etc... uses hardened or special hardware.

Good Lookin" truck Bob...Thank You !
I am going to check out a few local boneyards near me & check what they have. I would rather get a set of belts out of a existing GM truck than buy a generic "Fits all" set.

I just got mine a few weeks ago as well. Appear to be very nice and I hope to have them installed in a few weeks after I get my flooring and seat brackets done first.

This gentleman is the resident expert on Squarebody (And other model.) seatbelts. You might ask him what his recommendation would be.

I have a pretty nice stock of square body 3pt belts, and I can restore them for you also. Just depends on the color your wanting. The Charcoal Black will be the most money. Now I can't say if they fit, but if these other guys are saying they used Suburban belts, then I would think the squares would. Suburban belts are alot bigger. Check out my thread on the seatbelts, link is on my Signature. And BTW, my name is Tina, so Im not a gentleman. A gentlewoman, if that's such a thing
This is just part of the inventory of seatbelts I have. It has grown since this photo was taken.
HO455, you don't need to apologize, your fine. I get called that all the time. Its easy for people to assume that. You don't get alot of women that like to play with trucks

Re: 3 point seatbelts for a 72 C-10

I bought the ones from LMC. 3/10. Would not recommend. The receptacle strap is way too long so the whole belt rides way high in to your mid section unless you adjust it very tight. Also, the catch mechanism is very touchy - although that might be a good thing as that is what is going to keep you in place during a crash.

I find this true in just about every vehicle I get into.

My opinion is the belt mounting positions are a compromise related to the fore and aft seat position. So the lap belt might fit properly for someone with long legs and the seat all the way back but fit improperly (too high) for someone with shorter legs.

Going against the consensus, I moved my mounting locations in my Suburban when I went to 3 point belts (seat belt planet and also changed to factory buckets).

Re: 3 point seatbelts for a 72 C-10

I really liked the 350.00 belts I got from Tom, they fit great and look great. Why scrimp on something like seat belts, especially when you're hauling around the grand kids.

Re: 3 point seatbelts for a 72 C-10

I bought my 3 point belts from MBC Matt, a vendor on this forum. I really like them except I find that the strap for the buckle end is about 4-5 inches too long. The extra length puts the buckle up on my stomach instead of at my hip where it should be. This seems to be a common complaint for after market 3 point belts. I assume it is that long for when the seat is all the way forward. But I have the seat all the way back.
