LS Radiators
Who here has a US made LS radiator with metal shrouded fans to show off? I am trying to pick a radiator for my 67 project. Please only high end radiators. I will not purchase a Chinese radiator for any reason. I am thinking Entropy but I have seen photos of better looking radiators but never seen a name. The fans look high end on the entropy as well. The black plastic fans just look too cheap.

I have the Entropy...LS swap radiator
I bought it several years ago when they were $800.00 I'm still building my 67 LS1 but I did have the radiator mounted to test run the engine.. it seems to work really well....with the engine at operating temperature 190º....you could lay your hand on the front of the radiator and it was only slightly warm...

Couple different options.

Dewitt's get good reviews on the Corvette forums. I used a AFCO LS radiator on my 68 LS swap. Biggest I could fit.
Also I think Be Cool radiators are made in the US. Be Cool radiator on my current 80 Camaro LS3. I've used Spal fans on all LS swaps. Never had a failure. To A1971Blazer one of the things I did to clean up the upper radiator brackets I cut off the old fan shroud mounts. Just a suggestion. See pic. |

I know mine is not an LS engine but I know Wizard Cooling offers radiators for them. And if you are looking for a high end set up you should check them out. In my 72 C20 running a 511ci big block with AC I installed one of their top systems and man does it perform. The quality is untouchable. Check the welds, the finish and the detail to quality in the pics below. The fans are 14" SPAL Brushless motors and they can move some air. No issue what so ever with overheating. Also I made up a mounting plate for the 50 amp fuse for each fan and junction block terminals for the positive and negative power cables.

Sorry, forgot to mention that I had to update my alternator to a higher amp unit. Bought this beauty from Powermaster. It puts out 168 amps at idle, 175 amps at cruise and 181amps at top end. Also had to go to # 2 cable from alternator to junction blocks. And # 2 ground cable.

spend the dough on the entropy. I have the badass model. 16" fans.
I'm using tejas mounts, ly6/lsa and it fits. big block radiator top bracket and saddles.

i orginally used a giriffn radiator fromm summit got 3 years out of it, i bought one from cold case when they where getting going for 450 buxs with fans with life time warranty they have now gone up to like 600 or so its been 4 years and so far still strong and no leaks

I purchased and have in hand a RND for my truck. There is a horror story about them in the vendor review section. Hopeful I am not the next one. Was a little disappointed in the mounting tabs. When ordered I told them I had a stock 4 row rad. It came with mounts for a 3 row. When I inquired, I was told it fits 3 and 4 row mounts. A 1/4" bolt fits in a 1/2" hole, does not mean it should be done or make it right. Had to acquire 3 row mounts for my core support to make it right. Am using a 19" 850w PWM fan on the rad.

stock brass 4 row with dual Spal 12" fans & a nicely sealed shroud has served me well, all the way from bone stock 4.8 to a supercharged 5.3

Looks like Entropy will move to top of list.. Would like to hear from RND if anything has changed with them ect... Looks like a great product but looks mean nothing if performance doesn't follow...

I also use an entropy on my ls3. Keeps the truck @ 194 degrees no matter the outside temperature.

It is a product specifically designed to adhere to aluminum without any reduction in heat transfer. This is a special two part epoxy paint that is chemically hardened and it shrinks as it cures to a thickness of .001" Couldn't be happier with it. You can get a better price through Summit. |
