1985 c10 rearend
I have a 1985 c10 2wd pickup is the 8.5 rearend a 28 or 30 spline axle

I thought that they went to 30 spline in 88. My 84 was 28 spline.

I was wanting to order a posi unit for it before I took it apart and want to order the right one I guess I may have to take it apart to be sure ?

1989 was the official change to 30-spline for square bodies, some 1988's did receive 30-spline in late production vehicles. I found this out with a 1988 K20 Suburban - was supposed to be 28-spline front with an NP208 transfer case, mine was built June 1988 and had 30-spline axles in the front with an NP241 t-case.
