6" TC EZ-Ride installed but not sitting level??? Pic enclosed......
Well I described my install in this post: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s....php3?t=110579 and it wasn't untill I got the pickup out of the shop and in the light that I noticed it didn't quite sit level (front was higher then rear). I thought I might settle up front a bit and lower some but it hasn't (2 weeks ago). I did some measuring from the ground to the bottom of the of the fender and got 46 1/8" up front and 43 1/2" out back. Thats a little over 2.5" difference! Something can't be right here. I don't see how I could have installed something wrong to cause this. I'm going to call TC tommorow and see what they say. I'm thinking I might have gotten 4" rear springs instead. The number off the rear spring is TCI-2216 and the fronts are TCI-CX6. Here are some pics:

Well all i can say is I bought their 2" HD springs and ended up with about 3.5" of lift in the front and had to add an add-a-leaf in the rear of my 70 GMC and it still sits a little low in the back.
The only thing I can add is when did you tighten the spring bolts(front and shackle ends) before or after the weight of the truck was on the springs? They could be preloaded and not allowing the springs to settle. Forgot to add- Your truck looks good! Maybe you could add a short block or ORD zero rate to the rear. Measure the length of your front shocks with the truck level and I'll measure mine, the mounts should be in the same spots.

i bought the same kit im putting on mine and part numbers match mine. one thing that would give an inch in back is that zero rate spring jim talks about. i put one in mine as it came stock with a 3/4" block as far as i can figure out and i used it to replace the block. i havent got my front springs on yet as had to pull engine and do some other stuff but i got the rear on. when i put mine on i left all 3 shackle bolts semi loose then let down and torqued so i figure mine should stay where its at height wise. ill be sure to post some more pics once i get it rolling again. from what i can tell the front springs are really arched compared to the straight stock ones so this issue had me worried as well thats why i went for the zero rates out back.

I know I torqued the front eye bolt to 120 but I was confused on the shackle which one was supposed to be 120 and one was 40 (I think) Do you torque the spring to shackle to 40 or the shackle to frame to 40?

yeah i was confused too when did back, instructions are real unclear. i torqued all them to 90 and said scr@w it. lol speaking of i just got a front dual shock kit with some weird brackets that dont see how they will work and on the instructions it says stuff like see illustration #2 and there are no illustrations just words. did you get your kit from suspension connection?

Well I just got off the phone with TC and they said the both bolts on the shackle should only be 35 ft/lbs. I believe I have them at 90 and 120. I told him that and that is rides kind of rough and he said thats probably why (the shackle isn't moving). I'm gonna go brake the loctite loose and back them off a bit so there a bit past finger tight, drive it around a bit, then re loctite and torque to 35. I'll keep you posted on what it does.

thanks for the info i wonder why their instructions say 120 then. to me going to 120 seemed like it might break the bolt so i thought was kinda weird. are you going for the zero rate or just gonna see if settles out some with the re torque?

A Zero-Rate from www.offroaddesign.com would help get the rear lifted. My 69 was a little low in the rear with the 4" lift it had a couple years ago.

My truck was about a 1' higher in the front also ?? then I put 12,000 lb winch and 4 gauge steel c channel bumper on. Sits level now

Well I went and lossened all the shackle bolts then went and drove around a bit (went over some railroad tracks to be sure). It seems that it did lower things a bit (maybe an 1/8") but it did it front and rear so my front is still higher then the back. I think I'm gonna order one of those zero rates. How do they install (I assume they just bolt between the spring and axle). Thanks.

Once more thing I just thought of is that I have Pro Comp nitro gas charged shocks up front but have just regular (non-charged Rancho in back). Would the charged shocks up front be enough to push up the front end where it would sit higher? I ordered a complete set of these but didn't put them out back as I thought they were a bit too long and might bottom out. The Ranchos that were in there were way to long for the 2" lift already installed but were about perfect for the 6". If I put the zero-rate in then I will probably add the Pro Comp's out back since there should be enough room.

yeah the zero rate just uses the bolt that goes through center of spring to attach, goes on real ez but may need longer u-bolts in back to compensate for. not sure about your shocks but i kinda doubt they giving you 2.5" lift lol

yep bolts between the springs and axle. I installed them on the front of my 71. The only problem I had was the center bolt they provided has fine threads and the nuts they gave me were coarse. I went and bought 2 fine thread nuts. Also make sure you have at least an inch of threads sticking past the nuts on your u-bolts to accomadate the zero-rate.

Every set of TC rear 6" springs I have installed, I always had to put 2" add-a-laefs in with them. It's seems only on 67-72 model springs. I put a set in my 86 1-ton 56"long and they were 6" springs and gave the truck a 8"lift instead. So I would say they are the right ones. I hope this helps ya. Dana

Yes they were. See out in the north west tc is sold by a company, called les schwab tires. they have over 300 stores in the nw and they give me add-a-leafs and say that tc said that stock sat low in the back. I have been useing superlift in the rear now. I have always used superlift in the front, if I was going to keep the truck and I have never had aproblem with them. Glad I could help Dana

yeah thats the same instruction sheet that comes with it but thats for a rear block kit not a spring lift. the reason that kit comes with add a leafs is because it only comes with a 4" block for the back.
