How do you tell the difference between a Hobo and a Hipster?
Answer: Hobos can't afford mustache wax.
I was a civilian and USAF back in the day...mid 70s...stationed in Tucson. Hope to slide out there later this fall. I doubt there will be much I will recognize. 1st time I ever saw colored rock, instead of grass, in front yards. LOL!

Yeah, the Old Pueblo is definately an Air Force town. I was in the Marine Air Wing, myself, but DMAFB was handy when I was on leave. I could raid their PX, buy issue boots and utility trousers, and even draw E1 pay [Though I was a CPL E4]. When my '68 C/10's transmission broke down in ABQ -- on the way to MCAS Cherry Point, NC -- a friendly DM Ops NCO got me scheduled on a C-118 MATS hop from Nellis AFB to Langley AFB. From Langley, I got a cab to NAS Norfolk, RON'ed at the Marine Barracks, and in the morning, caught a hop on a Navy C-9 to CPNC. Always got along with the USAF.
I got here in the Early '70s. When water was a lot cheaper, people had lawns, but with little or no snow in winter, the grass browned out. One local company would dye your dead lawn grass green again. ''Is your lawn a Beastly Beige?'' ...they would intone on local TV.
Since the Severe Drought has been upon us, these last 17 years, ''Xeriography'' [dry landscaping] has been in vogue. City Water ain't cheap anymore. Last year, a combination of a cracked fitting on my roof, feeding the swamp cooler, spraying out unnoticed, and a leaking toilet flap, totalled a $250 water bill.
Up in the Air, Junior Birdmen!

Re: Thumbs up

Those were the days. Lived west if town off Ajo highway. Ha! I floated a valve in my '70 Mach 1 on that road. I was doing about 70 mph in forth gear just cruising. It had a 351 Cleveland in her. Nowhere to be found around Tucson. Finally picked one out of a wrecked Cougar North of Phoenix. Took a LOT of junk yard calling and asking questions back in those days.

Now days you can find / fix damned near anything thru Dr. Google.

Did some flag waving today. Not sure if it's the truck or our red, white and blue, but we get thumbs up and lots of horn honks!

Very cool, yuccales...I'm betting it's "all of the above", but your truck is a standout all on it's own, too! Thanks for flying Old Glory...as well the Thin Blue and Red Lines!

Glad mine is a 70, I get the OK sign, lol. Seriously I hardly ever drive mine to town without at least one person asking me if it's for sale. I guess because of my really old paint they think they can get it cheap. Been cutting and hauling thorn bushes for three days, wouldn't want to do that with a new paint job.

Re: Thumbs up

Crossing into North Carolina on the Tail of the Dragon at Deal's Gap Store, we pulled the Blazer up to the gas pump and about 20-30 motorcyclists came over to look.
One gentleman asked if he could take a picture....He said that he had worked at the factory in Michigan where they made the Blazers....

Cool. That would probably be Flint, Mich. My '71 Jimmy K/1500 (but not a K/750) was made at the St Louis, MO plant. I have a '72 K/5 parts tub with an F in the VIN.
I wonder did some plants specialize in K/5 production, or did they all build some? Have I ever seen a Fremont Blazer? Don't remember...

That's cool that you didn't break the Biker's heart by telling him,
''No, my truck was built in St Louis, not Flint.''
Better to let Old Dogs bask in their glory, rather than kicking them in the ribs with Reality.

Good show.
I just posed the question on the Blazer Forum, if any other plants besides Flint and St Louis made the K/5s. DeahheadNM said No just those two plants, and St Louis ceased Blazer production in Spring of '72.
