I've been on the fence for several months, as I'm building a SBC for my '66 that's got spindles & springs, eventually bags.
According to nearly every dyno test I can find, long tubes boost low end power. The effect is worth +40 hp up to 3500 rpm on a big block. I found a compo of new Holley manifolds, shorties and long tubes. Shorties were not much better than manifolds, long tubes +15 hp over manifolds at 5500 rpm. I'm installing the motor with manifolds, saving for long tubes. Not even gonna mess with shorties. |
