New Truck!
Guess I can participate in here now! I just bought a 1986 GMC Wrangler, 1/2 ton, 2wd, 305 (i believe, how would i find out for sure?) plain jane farm truck, from Alberta! I bought it for 400 bucks, added tranny fluid and oil, and drove it 3400km home, and it never complained!!! not bad if you ask me! lol underneath is supersolid, only minor rust on the body (couple of holes, some surface) I will be drivin it in the winter only, as far as i can tell, and all i will do is brakes, frontend, tune up, the usual stuff, but leavin body, mudflaps, stickers, etc alone, lol!

Duude, you stole that truck from me! I'm from Alberta, and I never find deals like this! For Alberta -- That truck is like rock solid!
Congrats though! Hope it works out for you! The best way for you to find out if it is a 305 is to look at the exhaust manifolds -- If they go overtop of the spark plugs, then it is a 305, if they go underneith the spark plugs, then it is a 350

I have seen plenty of 305s with the manifolds over and under. I would just get the block numbers and run them at Mortec.com

Hey, its a general rule of thumb Not always 100% accurate, lol, just seems to be my general finding. The best idea was mentioned, check the block number at Mortec.com
And dang man! You found some sweet cars out here! I'm loving that Ragtop Buick! If you know of any other 67-87 trucks with good bodies that arn't rusted out here in Alberta, lemme know! I need a good body for the ol GMC!

Nice looking truck ya scored there. I would clean her up, shoot some new paint on her, slap on some new wheels and killer exhaust system and call her done

Yeah, I see trucks on the side of the road for sale all the time, either they are beat up beyond reconition, rusted away, or rediculously expensive, lol
If I could score a truck with a solid body and no motor/ tranny (though they would be nice), I'd be happy, be really happy if it was a 3/4 ton longbox truck with a good 14 bolt rear
