Options for rear view mirrors

Just started driving my 66 swb. Have no side mirrors, was planning some sort of peep mirrors. But thinking about backup cameras as mirrors. Don’t know much about them but have ridden in few newer trucks with backup cameras. Anyone think I can put one on each side some how and make work? Would keep my clean look and be unique.

Re: Options for rear view mirrors

I too have thought about using a backup camera for my rear view as I have a small back window truck and a healthy fear of ruining all my hard work on a vehicle with great sentimentality by having some idiot run into me or by having me hit them as they hide in my blind spot. Regarding the side mirrors, you might double check your state's requirements for having side mirrors. I know in the states I will be driving my truck at least a drivers side mirror is required. I would personally hate to try to explain to a State Trooper at night or in the rain or something that I am meeting the state's law by having a camera or cameras in place of an actual physical mirror...

As far as actual mirrors here is a thread (4 pages) of various styles used.

Re: Options for rear view mirrors

Looked online saw lots of interesting equipment. Tiny almost aerodynamic cameras, 140 degrees of view. Monitors that can show both sides plus directly behind at same time. Looks like trucks and motor homes use them alot.
So I think it’s possible, need to go out and see actual views thru them. Read that new corvette comes with camera for rear view mirror. Going to check that, if so must be legal somehow. Like the looks of peep mirrors but no one who has had them has anything good to say about them.
