cruise control ?

Did G.M. use the same style cruise control system on later model trucks(73-up) as they did on '71 trucks? Were there any cars that used the same style as the trucks. Thanks.

As far as the lever, they were similar on many GM vehicles, trucks vans large cars up untill the late 70's and even early '80's. I got my control switch out of an 80 trans am. As far as the actual controls under hood and the like, I don't know if they were real close to being the same, but you should be able to make any non-computer unit work.
Keep an eye on the older full size cars that were normally loaded like caddy's and buicks in the junk yard. The vacume actuator on the engine or firewall that is hooked to the throttle, the piece that is plugged into the speedo cable normally on the dvr's fender, and the switch on the column and the brake light switch along with the wireing will all be needed. The brake light switch may need to be truck specific, but it is reproduced now, but it is kinda expensive.

I don't know what you mean by "style" -- appearance? components? functionality? parts interchangability?

Search the board for pic's of 70-72 cruise controls.

Sometime after 72, you have that transducer, IIRC, that mounts on the drivers fender well, and the cruise control lever on the column is different than in 72.
