Opinions... Painting engine bay

Well after 19 months my beloved Kragens long block has spun a bearing. uh thats sarcasm. Anyway, figured I would clean up the bay for the new GM crate motor. Thinking about painting the original Hawaiian Blue on the firewall and fenders but painting the fenderwells some color of gloss white. Or maybe the whole bay gloss white. Will probably leave the radiator support/battery boxes black.
BTW my rt fender has a ton of bondo in it and I don't think I have the talent to make the wheel arch look right. Any suggestions on a new fender?
Here's some pics. If anyone is in Sacramento and wants to come play in my garage drop me a line. My regular wrench turnin buddy went to the desert.

Hope the pics worked.

I would think with the firewall painted blue,I would paint the inner fenders and rad support white,or black, not both.It would be to many colors.I can't say I have seen an all white bay.I would look for another fender. Not to hard to find.

I'd like to see it when done.I am repainting my 2wd suburban this fall.99% sure that the main color will be white.Might have to do mine all white with polished alum rad and tpi unit, and keep the block orange.

White?????

Man, you'll have to clean it after every drive!

If it is an everyday driver, I would advise to stay with a DURABLE black paint. The factory paint is very good, it has been on mine through 33 years of helll

Paint the firewall to match the body and everything else good ol' semi-gloss black. The firewall doesn't see that much crud and will stay nice and purty with the occasional rinse. Everything else tends to see dropped wrenches, oily rags and a host of other crud. Standard GM semi-gloss is a breeze to touch-up and always looks good.

The fans are flex-a-lite model 395 rated at 2740-4600 cfm. It is a 2 stage set up with an electronic controller. The jury is still out on the electonic controller I may go to a more traditional temp switch set up. It utilizes a temp probe in the radiator and it kicks on a little late for me. Cost through Summit is currently around $365? I thought real hard about the set-up Wes? has. His is real purty in stainless. But the fex-a-lite has baffles for ram air at cruise and I THINK this one is rated a little higher in CFM than his. I stress THINK. He does have a good lookin set-up. The stainless above is some scrap I used to mount the fans. I thought it looked better than the brackets that came with.

[QUOTE=Perchjerker]White?????

Man, you'll have to clean it after every drive!

I have had plenty of white vehicles and they hid dents and dirt much better than the new dark blue Tahoe my wife drives. I like the thought of a high gloss white. Somethin sprins a leak you know it real quick. It also should wipe down o.k.. Specially the fender wells.

chickenwing,

There are fenders around, actually a guy in Roseville who I want to speak with about a roll pan...

The weekend of the 14th I might be able to swing out there to assist, or at least sit back with a beer and supervise! Headed to Reno this Saturday, church Sunday, then gotta take care of the yard, evenings during the week just got filled up with soccer practice and the kiddos...

I'm not very far, just near Madison and I-80.

Jeremy, how's next weekend look for you?

I usually up in the mountains on the weekend, becuase my girlfriends dad runs cattle up there. Sacto Why are you going up to Reno? Hot August Nights? I will be up near Truckee/Sierraville, I am going to go look at a truck in Sparks, and I was thinking about staying and watching some of it. I have never been how crowded is it?

By the way I can see the pictures now, and chickenwing if you do paint it white make sure to post some pictures I would like to see how it looks.
