1962 looking for parts
Aloha all
1962 seems to be a hard year to get parts. I am looking for the control arm seals. Most places sell the complete control arm but that is silly when you only need the seal, They do sell the 63-66 seal. Will the 63 seal work? I am also looking for the lower control arm bumper, rear bumpers, and exhaust hanger kit. any ideas where to shop. I have tried pony boys and classic parts and a lot of internet searching. Thanks for any tips 1962 6cylinder fleetside long bed Last edited by keith808; 11-18-2022 at 12:10 PM. Reason: truck info |

Re: 1962 looking for parts
I just went through this with my 60. I found ecklers has the lower control arm shafts. 60-62 is a different style than the 63-66 control arms due to the torsion bars.

Re: 1962 looking for parts
I know, I did not know when I bought the 62 that it would be such a pain to find some parts.
If anyone has a good source please let me know. KFisher |

Re: 1962 looking for parts
Parts are easier to find now than 10+ years ago. Capitan Fab has good stuff. Exhaust is better from shop. You might get lucky with Walker parts. By all meas check my build. I use Speedway Motors alot. Classic Parts.com, Classic Industries, for 6 cyl... 12bolt.com

Re: 1962 looking for parts
I went through the same problems with my 62. If I had to do it again I would do a front suspension swap with a 73-80 c10. Parts are easier to get.

Re: 1962 looking for parts
I have almost all the suspension parts off my '61. Most are pretty tired. Shipping from Canada would be rough.
I went 73-87 front end.

Re: 1962 looking for parts
The control arm seal GM part numbers for 60-62 are 3762960 lower and 3762959 upper .Control arm Bumper lower 3762981 , upper 3773361 . As mentioned above , the Assembly manual will give you the GM part numbers for exhaust hangers .

Re: 1962 looking for parts
When I searched a couple years ago, I couldn't find any lower control arm bumpers for '60-'62. If you're a purist, maybe some place like Steele could revulcanize yours.
It's not this place or that place that doesn't have a lot of '60-'62, it's every place. I've looked at many, many vendors; there are less parts available for '60-'62 than any other year Chevy truck since 1946. It has been getting a little better over the years. Accept it or swap the chassis. |
