Exactly! as a kid of about 12 years old, in the country, I would see two trucks drive by as I waited for the school bus. One, a 1969 GMC LWB, and a 1972 GMC SWB. Two years later I purchased that 69 and my journey began. Every single line of their sculpted metal I loved then and relish today. A couple years later, that 72 I saw a bit closer. I worked as a lotboy at the Chevy dealer and it came in trade. It was the most highly optioned I have yet seen - Sierra Grande, Black with white buckets, 402BB, wood bed, tach, a/c. Being a high school kid I could not aford the $4000 dealer asking price. I wonder where it is today. This was all between 1982-1985

OP Your truck is certainly built in a timeless way, my favorite. Seems like a majority of trucks built these days only have the sheet metal original. That isnt timeless, but I get your gist as far as the basic look goes.

I built Rose like an original but being 70 there were no front disk brakes, am/fm radio, tilt wheel, etc. So I used all the goodies from 71 and 72 trucks also to make my fantasy truck. Drop spindles, springs, trac bar, give it the stance it wanted back then. I used only the best OEM or NOS parts, only bought aftermarket parts when I had too. Very, very few of them.

RenoKeene I saw your truck at Cruisin The Coast a few years ago, and recgonized it right away. I love it.

In 1972 I bought a brand new orange and white Cheyenne C10. I wasn't old enough to sign the papers. I put a set of 8x15 Appliance wheels on it right away.

The appeal of these trucks was immediate.

A few months after we bought the truck, The little woman and I got in it and headed for the Pacific Northwest. A couple of crazy kids on an adventure. As we were cruising across Kansas, a couple of young guys were standing outside a service station. One of them stuck his arm and forefinger straight out when he pointed that truck out to his friend. Funny how a scene like that sticks with you. The response was that way all through our trip.

I sold that truck in 1976 and was sick. It took me four years to find another one and I have had at least on ever since.

I've had this one since 1988.

They always were an eye-catching design. I saw the first brand-new '67s rolling by my high school, and I thought, ''Wow. That's not an ugly truck!''
I wanted one then. I didn't catch up to a '68 C/10 Orange Stepside until I was 23.
But I still have it. No one can talk me out of it, or into selling it, or trading it in. It's mine.

Reno, you did your truck in my favorite flavor. No, not mint. Although mom put our favorite candy in our Christmas stocking every year and mine was thin peppermint patties. I mean the style, the vibe, the timeless element. How long has your truck been built now and how many trends have come along since? Not a single thing outdated on that truck. As cool now as it ever was! Classic doesn't go out of style.

I was a model kit builder since I was 8 (1963). I loved the trucks of that era. I saw the touches of Impala in them. Then came the '67s and they blew my mind. I saw touches of the Camaro in those... as well as Chevelle and Impala. A great year in Chevy history.

When I was 18 in '73, I rode down to Sport Chevrolet with my buddy* and his dad to pick up the '66 Impala he had bought off the OK Used Car lot. The lot was run by the dad's friend Buzz. While they were inside doing the business I walked upon a freshly traded-in '72 short bed, solid Ochre paint, Parchment with plaid, and big block. Not a single scratch in the bed! Buzz comes out and says, "Did you want that?". I never imagined I could manage that. He said if I had a job he could get me financing, and I bought it. $2,800! I came back with $500 and drove it home. That is a day I will never forget. I've been sick on them ever since.

oh my! I've never heard that comparison before. I thought Impalas were the ugliest car when I was a kid in the 80's and have no more appreciation for them today. haha

So you have always had poor vision or poor perception? To each his own. Impalas looked different about every year. Do mean all Impalas in every style? You ain't no Chevy Man are you? It doesn't sound like you were even around in that time period (I'm having fun in the same way I'm hoping you were)
