Good points.
When I restored my '69, I replaced the original core support with one from a '71 or '72. I couldn't pass it up when I saw it on Craig's List in perfect condition blasted and primed for $50. I figured I couldn't restore mine for that even though all it needed was paint. My pic above shows the high horn in the correct factory hole with a weld nut on the on the front side.
As halfstep mentioned. I found lots of working low horns but only one or two working highs. I figured that may be due to the horizontal angle of the high horn compared to the low horn pointing down-word allowing the horn to be more likely to "capture" water and rust the diaphragm.
