T221 Rubber mount source

[Short 3/4]

Anybody know of a source for the stock type rubber X-fer mounts? A few years ago a lot of the vendors had the bottoms available (but not the tops) now can't even find those. I have a set of the poly ones, but want to go back to rubber, unfortunately my old ones are not in great shape. Any leads will be most appreciated.

In searching for T221 info, someone had said that 1932-1948 Ford motor mounts would work. It looks like they were talking about the lower mount P/N b-6039-a
I can't confirm they will work but they look closer to our upper mount than bottom. I don't have any dimensions for any of the mounts.

BTW The GM P/Ns are

Lower Mount 2391770

It is finally getting in the 60's here so I went out to pull my mount and guess what's missing form my truck

Unbelievably there was one listed on Ebay about a month ago The listing was over and it wasn't relisted so I messaged the seller. Luckily he responded and reposted the mount. It should be here next week.

The Ford motor mounts are smaller than the poly ones and have a bottom lip which would be no big deal to cut off.

I looked up a 1951 FORD F1 3.9L 239cid V8 and got the MARMON A2010 ones for $.73 each

I'll report back when I get my mount unless someone else has their GM cushions handy that they can measure.

Well I got the mount today and those Ford motor mounts are too small
One thing I noticed is the old cushions are almost spongy not the hard rubber I was expecting.
After measuring the used cushions and I think something like this might work

The mounting bolts are 1/2"-13

Is there a particular reason you're opposed to the poly?

I have not searched for the rubber ones in some time but did buy the poly variety for the last 221 I had out.

If it's noise level reduction thing, I personally cannot tell a significant difference between which has rubber and which has poly purely from noise level.

I can however tell which ones have 85-140W and which have 80-90W for gear lube.

I do like the poly because it doesn't allow the case to walk around nearly as much and I have a hard time trusting quality of reproduction rubber products. Some of it doesn't seem to last very long.

If I come across some rubber ones, I'll chime in with source.

I’ve been told the rubber ones are much quieter. Tried swapping in rubber, but made some other changes at the same time, so couldn’t tell if it helped.

Recently switched to MT90 gear oil, no real change in noise level, but figured it would help with heat. It does make it easier to shift though.

So are you saying the 85/140 quiets down the noise level? Never thought to try that. Thanks for the input

I'm certain the rubber does make them a little quieter in theory. In my personal experience with my trucks, it's not a huge difference. Other s experience may vary. I had put 85-140 in one last summer and that made it run notably quieter.

I also spent a lot of time getting all the drive shafts vibration free through balancing rebuilding or replacement. Eliminating as much high frequency vibration helps to reduce the noise level also (if you have any). The shifters won't rattle/buzz at all when they are right. I mention this because most my trucks did that in the beginning.

I've heard that MT90 is best for the synchros in the old transmissions. I should do that too.

I will add that all the motor and trans mounts were replaced with OE rubber to include cab mounts. It all adds up to keep the noise out of the cab. They'll never be quiet but it helps.
