The primary color (2169) for the 538 two tone code you're looking at in the 72 paint code reference page was only available in 67-70 (Ditzler 2169 = 67-70 RPO 508 Dark Blue Poly). I think this is what may be throwing you off.

72 Dark Blue is RPO 523 (Mariner Blue) - and its conventional two-tone code is 572.

Despite what the 72 chart shows, 508 Dark Blue Poly was not available in 1971 or 1972 (nor was its conventional two-tone code of 538).

If your truck came from the factory as conventional two tone Medium Blue (aka Hawaiian Blue), the SPID RPO would be 542.

542 is what I show on the spid, but I want to replace the spid with a new one and want to update it with the new color.. the PO painted it dark blue metallic with a white top.. he told me dark blue was a factory color for ‘71 and I have found it on the internet.. I just need to know what code would be for dark blue/white
