Mechanical Throttle Linkage
We're about ready to bolt the Quadrajet (yep, I'm one of THOSE guys) on the '69. The carb is the one that came with the SB, '84 vintage.
The brackets, etc. that came with the engine are for a cable-type throttle, and we still have the linkage as pictured below in the truck (tied up out of the way in this pic). The linkage is left over from the I6 setup. Who has done this hookup already, and what do you recommend? I'd prefer not to go to cable, if that's practical. We're talking straight throttle here - no trans kickdown, etc. Thanks...SSOW

What the hell are those manifolds on there. Looks like you should tilt them babies up and mount a huffer on there.

Nothin' special as far as I know. Came on the donor car, an '84 Buick Regal, I think. They probably aren't the best-flowing things out there, but the clearances work well, and the price was right...SSOW

i put a v8 in my I6 truck. i put the motor in the v8 position so the rod needed legthened so i cut it in half and welded a rod in the middle so it was still adjustable at both ends. i have also seen people make one from scratch. i am not sure what they are called but they thread on to a rod and bolt to anything. like a ball joint swivel 90.

I took out my 250 & did the same Qjet-350 swap. what I did was got some 1/4 rod from hdwr store. used a 1/4x20 die & made a new rod to go to carb. make sure you thread it enough for adjustment (about 1 1/2 inch on each end). get a pair of throttle liknage ball-stud swivel assys from NAPA or equivalent(about $8 each)
I would post a pic but I am unable to reduce them down to 100KB.

about those manifolds, GM came up with those just so they could burn plug wires & cook the valve cover gaskets. but on the good side they dont warp & crack like the under plug log style.

68C15, that sounds like what I'm looking for. If you'll e-mail the pick to me (PM'd you my e-mail address), I'll resize it and add it to the post. I know it would really help me out...maybe others.
Thanks...SSOW
