70 GMC Disc Conversion / Rally
All,
I apologize in advance for this question. I have read all threads that I can find on this subject and I want to make sure I get it right - this is a $1,400 project. I have a 1970 GMC (6lug) step side that I will be converting to 6 lug disc brakes (no drop). My truck currently has steelies with dog dishes - looking to convert to period correct Rallys and new tires. #1 - I am looking at 6 lug 15x8 with 3 5/8" backspace rally wheels for sale locally. Will these clear the front disc when converted? Other options, or is this the correct wheel to purchase? #2 - I am looking at 255/70 BF Goodrich Radial T/A's - with this wheel/tire combination clear as needed and not hang outside the fenders? Pics of my truck if that will help with my questions. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks in advance Dan |

Re: 70 GMC Disc Conversion / Rally
I have the 6 lug ralley wheels and I did the disc brake conversion with no worries. I have Cooper Evolution HT 265/70R15 tires on my rims and they work just fine. I did lower my truck so they are close in the front yet still under the truck. I bought a disc brake converstion kit and a power brake master cylinder and vacuum booster setup from CPP. Thats a sweet truck you have.

Your questions have been answered, but I'll add that your truck is a nice looking rig!

You may not be able use the center caps you desire, as these wheels have 3 nubs on the inside, so you have to run derby caps
