Re: parking brake
seen that, lucky nobody was killed.
it's not a bad thing these days that the brakes have to be applied before it will shift out of park. might have saved a few people when the pedal doesn't feel right. sometimes it takes a few applications before the master cylinder runs dry though. good reason to have a dual brake system AND a park/emergency brake. it may not do much when the engine is pushing hard though. |

Re: parking brake
This post inspired me to go ahead & install the actuator I had tucked away for awhile.

Re: parking brake
What is the capacity of that linear actuator?
most hand / foot brakes have 4 or 5 to 1 ratio and it doubles again under the truck for many GMs that have the lever arm where the 2 brake cables come together I found a NHTSA brake test procedure that specified the max park brake force allowed for a pass in their test of holding on a 20% grade : 90 pounds for hand brake, 112 pounds for foot brake. So the linear pull under the car will be in the 400-800 pound range for most vehicles. |

Re: parking brake
I don't recall. I bought the kit & put it away a couple of years ago. If I can figure where I purchased it, I'll let you know.
