Let me re-introduce myself
From 2010-2020 I had the 69 Chevy C/20 Custom Camper pictured below. I drove it a lot but it was too nice to be a don't-give-a-crap daily driver. Got involved with big-block dirt modified race team in NY in 2019 so the truck just sat.
Middle of 2020 I sold the 69er to a gentleman in Colorado and got an 81 GMC Sierra 2500 (Ice Cream Sandwich) with a factory 454. Nice truck to drive daily when gas was $2 during the pandemic, but reality set in when it hit $4-$5 a gallon and the 9 mpg made for multi-page credit card statements for gas stops. All along I really, really missed having a 67-72 truck, so I came upon a 70 C/20 with a 402 and 3.54 gears. Won the auction today and looking forward to taking delivery soon. It's got a ton of patina which I'm going to leave alone. Only plan is to get cab lights back on it, paint the letters and stripes back on the grill, get some Michelins, and the correct hubcaps. I know the mileage won't be much better than the GMC, but it'll be nice to have a 67-72 again. BaT auction for the 70 https://bringatrailer.com/listing/19...rolet-c20-cst/

Re: Let me re-introduce myself
Welcome back to the 67-72 gang! I've always liked your '69. It's one of the trucks that made me decide on a stock direction for my '70. That sure is a nice lineup of trucks you've owned. I like the in-bed carrier on the new one. The correct caps will be the icing on the cake for sure.

Re: Let me re-introduce myself
Nice to have you back Joe, let me assure you that you have been missed! Love the new truck, and I can’t wait to see what you do with it! I’ve got an 84 C20 Sierra in the same color scheme as yours. I like Indian bronze over cream quite a bit.

Lol. Yeah I went to the BAT link and could see the bumper better. I couldn't see a dealer name either.

Re: Let me re-introduce myself
Welcome Back!
Drive it and use it like it was designed for....a truck. Most of these trucks have been rebuilt back to new condition several times over the years and just like a Timex, takes a licking and keeps on ticking. My avatar Otis has plenty of battle scars from being an everyday driver and work horse. After the first scratch or ding the rest come easy. Use it don't abuse it is my motto. |

Re: Let me re-introduce myself
Great score. Funny how we sell things then beat a path to find another one!
Comment from the auction: "@SDSwede This is one of the funniest things I’ve ever read on BaT: “No one can own too many trucks. If someone tells you that you can, don’t talk to them again. No one needs that kind of negativity in their life.”" |

Re: Let me re-introduce myself
In all honesty I don't really plan on doing much to the truck, just drive the crap out of it and enjoy it.
I got the correct hubcaps for it from Ebay (pic is from auction, I already had 1 hanging on my shop wall so 3 worked out perfect) I'm going to have my sign painter redo the black and paint the bowties blue like he did with the 69er hubcaps. Probably going to have my painter paint the letters and stripes on the grill, too. In the past it had adhesive aftermarket cab lights, but I guess the gaskets rotted out so he took them off and put duct tape over the holes Since it's not an original cab light cab with the humps, I'm not sure if stock cab lights will work or not. If not I'll just get the cheapie chrome hood cab lights to fill in those holes. The tires only have 500 miles on them and they're the correct size - depending on how the ride I'll either keep them or get Michelins like I've put on all my previous trucks. Maybe get the rims powder-coated - who knows. I'm going to leave the body the way it is - besides touching up the areas where the mirrors mount to the doors. I like the way it looks, and if I did start doing stuff to it, i would easily domino into making it into the condition that the 69er is in, then it would be hard to just bomb around in and use it as a truck. I booked the transporter on Saturday so ETA to pick up the truck in Oregon will be 1-5 days. From there who knows how long it'll take to get to Connecticut. If it's necessary for him to have a full transporter it could be zigzagging all over the country for close to 2 weeks. To say I'm excited for the truck to arrive is an understatement. I'm also happy to be part of this 67-72 community again. There's a wealth of knowledge here and people's help and advice have been great in the past. |

Re: Let me re-introduce myself
I love my dark blue and white '72 Cheyenne 20 Super. While I like the '69-'70 grille, I wanted the '72 disc brakes, and interior more.

Re: Let me re-introduce myself
Welcome back. That's a sharp C/20. I have mounted the original cab lights on these trucks without the roof panel. Figure the same light works directly on the 73-91 tops

***Joesjunk -- What's the story on all your low mileage trucks? Some with 10K miles or less? Wow! How long have you been collecting them?
