F/s: 454
I think it is a mid to late 80's 454. Two bolt main, block and heads are in great shape, no scoring or marks. #5 piston has a hole from wear I think. I bought the engine as a replacement as I thought my 427 swallowed a main bearing. Long story short, all turned out ok, and now I have no need for the 454. I paid 990$ for it. All I want is $900. If it has to be shipped, buyer pays all charges and crating fees etc. Engine is currently located in northern Idaho. PM me or post here if interested.
Thanks for your time! ![]()

none taken at all. I realize thats a lot to ask, but that is what the go for where I bought it. I got fed a line by a bull**** artist, an unfortunately, didnt bring my breaker bar so that I could pull the heads to fully inspect everything. Yes, it is my fault, and yes I will do things different in the future, but I need to get back the money I lost. I managed to find the culprit of my "main bearing" problem. and it was no where near as severe as I had thought. Now I have a good block setting around when someone else could probably make use of it.
If I had the 300$ to do the necessary work on it, I would build it the way I want to. Unfortunately, I NEED the money for school first and foremost. If I have to, I'll let the pile set untill I can build it, or sell it. thanks for the opinion, no offense taken, but I gotta do what I gotta do, to everyone else, if you need it, lets see if we can make somethin work.

I don't blame you at all for trying to recoup your losses. 454's really go for that around there? Dang.... I can get 454 cores all day long here for $500.00 and under. The lastest one I bought, was running in top notch cond., in a 1976 Suburban 4 by 4. The body of the truck was rustier than hell (for NM standards anyways), but it ran as sweet as honey. No ticks, knocks, smoke and runs 75 psi oil pressure. I paid $400.00 for the whole truck. I admit, that was a smoking deal. I'm picking up another 454 4 bolt out of a 1986 one ton Chevy, that runs well and has all accesories, including the stainless factory headers. I'm paying $350.00 for it. Maybe I'm getting good deals, but around 5 bills seems to be the going rate here. I pity you guys up there, if that's the rate, but I can identify. Back in eastern canada, 454's were so rare that it was not strange to see one go for $1,500.00...and they often needed total rebuild. I guess it just depends on your area. Good luck in your sale!!

A 454 around here in any working condition would be WAY more than $500!!!! About 800-900 for a decent, very very tired 454 woudl be a good deal.
350's around go for about 650 for a junkyard core of unknown condition (goo d& rusty).

I guess in the desert you have the both of both worlds! up North, they have drivetrains & no decent bodies. Down here, we have bodies, but little to power them.. (everything deent is grabbed up by the circle track / drag racers.

You are willing to ship, right? The reason I'm asking, is that I have several friends that have been bugging me for months, for one out of my stash (none of which I'm willing to part with....yet ![]() ![]()

I am willing to ship, but I, or they, would have to figure out through who and how. I could probably build a crate here easily enough, and I believe that FedEx Ground would ship it, I am just unsure of the cost. As long as the crating and shipping fees are paid for by the buyer, I have no problem getting it sent out.
Let me know and thanks again.
