VIN decoder?

Is there a good VIN decoder for the medium and heavy duty trucks from 60s and 70s or possibly the 80s? I can find 10-30 series decoders, but not the heavy trucks.

Re: VIN decoder?

I've seen some online, but mostly they can be found in factory manuals.

Is there any particular truck you are trying to decode?

Re: VIN decoder?

I don't have a specific one right now, but when I scan trucks for sale I like to know about the truck from the VIN.

I don't believe there is much online but if you locate some, let us know. Best bet would probably be to get a hold of some factory manuals.

Re: VIN decoder?

This is an example:

Very little description, but the VIN is listed. It would be nice to know more from the VIN on the heaver trucks.

Re: VIN decoder?

I have success with vinwiz.com although lately it’s been down then up then down again. Here is what came up for that truck

Re: VIN decoder?

The GM VIN cards have Medium and Heavy duty information.

We used to carry these around in our pockets for reference (along with note cards and our pocket protectors).
