Re: Hood bumpers
Those. They all look the same. Stick a pick in the bottoms to pop them in, aided with lube.

Re: Hood bumpers
The repros of these are trash..way too stiff and they fall apart in a couple of years.
NOS is still out there. GM part number 3888542 The threaded hood adjustment bumpers are 400765

The ones in the top picture are flat on the angled part and the second ones are rounded and thicker. I couldn't get the rounded ones to work. I would get the ones in the first picture. They weren't available when I was trying to find some. I ended up using used ones. I can't attest to how long any of the repo's last. LockDoc

Re: Hood bumpers
Same as locdoc, the rounded ones don't work.
I seem to remember the factory or NOS ones look like the rounded though? Maybe someone can comment. |

Re: Hood bumpers
As shown above, the GM bumpers are rounded.. BUT they are soft and pliable, and will conform to the shape of the hood when the weight of the hood is applied to them. Aftermarket bumpers I have handled are hard as a rock and will cause issues, even though they look the same or similar.

Re: Hood bumpers
don't listen to these anti-repro guys. They're just hood bumpers! LOL I bought the repro from one of the top three repro companies (can't recall the one exactly) and after a year no issues as what some are "claiming". Mine are the rounded ones and pliable and crush just enough and bounce back to the original design and keep the hood in its proper placement. But if you can get OEM for a reasonable price, sure.

Re: Hood bumpers
My re-pop hood cushions were junk. Arrived to long to even fit into the hole. I had to cut them to length. Then I had to hand trim the top to get them pliable enough for the hood to shut.
Even the front core support cushions cracked when tightened. One thing the Chinese never seem to get right is the durometer of the rubber. I just noticed Goodmark makes the cushions and are marketed as manufactured in the USA. Any one with experience with the Goodmark brand? Last edited by Accelo; 11-14-2023 at 01:00 PM. |

Re: Hood bumpers
Accello were yours the rounded or more triangle kind?
I'm 90% sure I had some from goodmark that were the rounded type. That's when I realized I should get the other kind. I think, not matter which kind you get they need some trimming of the tab to ease install... |

Re: Hood bumpers
I finally checked out what I replaced the junk one with.
OER is the brand. They fit, even the length was correct, unlike the first batch. I believe the junk was off of Ebay? Not really sure but these are the best i have found. As expensive as it is to restore these trucks I hate getting UN-usable junk. Typically it is not worth attempting to return or too much time has passed before I find out the product was junk. These are soft and seem to work perfectly. $10.99 https://www.amazon.com/67-72-TRUCK-H.../dp/B004IWY4C6 https://www.oerparts.com/product/k918.html |

Re: Hood bumpers
Thanks Accello. I'll try these. They are shaped like the junk I now have, but current ones are hard as a rock.

Re: Hood bumpers
I ordered the Amazon ones and they are much better, far softer.
