1962 C30 disc brakes conversion???

Anyone know of a 8 lug disc brake conversion? I have not found any online for the torsion bar frontend. Or I have thought about swapping the frontend and rearend out of a 1981 GMC dually i have as a parts truck. I have not looked into the swap much cause the parts truck is in another state. I use the truck as a work truck still and the drum brakes suck even when not hauling/towing and even worse loaded down. Any help is appreciated!

Re: 1962 C30 disc brakes conversion???

The rear is fairly straight forward using disc brake parts off of a mid 70's K20 Chevy (I think). It requires a mount for the calipers that is custom, but the rest of the parts are off the shelf stock. Do a web search for "Eaton HO72 disc brake conversion". If you go this way, I think I have a pair of the brackets to mount the calipers if you are interested. PM me and I will look. Don't know about the front end...

I don't think there are any front disc brake kits for a '60-'62 C30. That is not something there would be much of a market for. I would just swap the entire front suspension and differential from the '81 GMC under your '62 C30. May as well do the power brakes and steering while you're at it. Then you will have a '62 C30 that is nice to drive and stops well.

I think those are basically the same as the '70s trucks with disc brakes. 60-62 had torsion bars.
