Move BBC back 1/2 of a inch
I am installing a serpentine kit on my 72 c10 with a new alum radiator and fans the issue I have is the A/C compressor is super tight to the fan. I am thinking is either slotting the engine towers 1/2 of a inch to gain the clearance or drilling new holes in the frame I was wondering if anyone else has had to do so.

Re: Move BBC back 1/2 of a inch
I have, but not for gaining clearance for the AC compressor, nor was I installing a serpentine belt system. I moved the engine back a full inch just so the water pump snout and pulley didn't contact the fans.. Some PO replaced the I6 with a 454.. They installed a long water pump along with the associated accessory brackets. I also had to move the transmission cross member. I didn't "slot" any holes, I drilled new ones.
Don't forget to shorten the driveshaft a like amount. |

Maybe the shift linkage would need to be adjusted? And the exhaust could be straining the hangers.

Re: Move BBC back 1/2 of a inch
I have the same serpentine accessory drive on my bbc.
I had to move my engine forward by 1” due to valve cover clearance issues with the firewall and heater housing. Ditched the heater housing, and went with Vintage Air... But still had no room to pull the passenger side valve cover, as it was hitting the firewall. When I moved the engine forward, the gap between the radiator and pulleys shrunk even more, and I ended up going with some very thin electric fans. Turned out ok though....just very tight.

Thanks for the replies. After crawling around underneath it looks very doable. I plan on attacking this in a couple weeks and will post a few pictures after I’m finished.

Easiest thing I can think of right away is removing the frame stands and slotting the frame holes. A little time consuming, but it would look the best rather than drilling a hole next to another hole
