It will fit for a replacement for the round type, or for a spare. Both types have a good amount of slop to them, which is needed so as not to bind up shifter movements. I know my 70 K-10 I had used the flat type and early 71. By 1972 they were all the round type. The cross link, the flat bar connection for the two shift rods are the same as well, hence the fitting of both types working
