1968 GMC 250 Fuel Line
Hi All...
I have a 1968 GMC that has a 250 inline 6 with a Monojet carb. Where can I get a replacement fuel line that runs from the fuel pump to the carb. Would like to get a stainless steel one if possible. Send the usual NAPA, AutoZone, etc don't sell them. Thanks for your help! |

Re: 1968 GMC 250 Fuel Line
If you just want to run a straight steel line, you can buy a steel brake line with the correct fittings and bend it yourself. Or you could buy one from a vendor like LMC. Or you could buy a section of NiCopp tubing that is really easy to bend. Many options are available. If you just buy the line(s), you'll need a tubing bender.

Re: 1968 GMC 250 Fuel Line
L6s took a 5/16ths fuel line. V8s ran with 3/8 from the Factory. Some people upsize, but I run a bored-out 292 with a 500 CFM Edelbrock 1404 and I get fine fuel flow with the stock size.

Re: 1968 GMC 250 Fuel Line
I had a '64 Malibu that had a 2 barrel 283 from the factory. I'm pretty sure that it had a 5/16" fuel line. I drove it on PCH and hit 120 MPH on the speedo (calibrated). I'm pretty sure that that farmer pulling out of his field on his tractor was surprised by the wind when I went by, to say the least. Lucky we weren't both killed, tbh.

Re: 1968 GMC 250 Fuel Line
A few years ago, I went looking for a pre bent fuel line for my 1968 Chevrolet with a 250 and ended up with a collection of pre-bent fuel lines that don't fit.

Re: 1968 GMC 250 Fuel Line
1970 CST Blazer, have you used that line on a 1968 with a 250 and 1MV carb?
Here's the challenges I found when looking for a line. Many list that they work for 1967 and later, but the carb changed from the 1BV to the 1MV in 1968. Fuel line goes in the front on the 1MV and in the side on the 1BV. I just went and looked at a couple vendors to see if I could find a line that looked right. Even GMCPauls lists a line with this description "Pump To Carb Stainless Steel Line Inline 6cyl. 250ci or 292ci 67-70 Chevy / GMC Truck, 69-70 Chevy Blazer / GMC- Jimmy 2wd" This description can not be right for at least 2 reasons, #1 Different carbs in 1967 to 1968 and #2 the fuel pump on the 292 is located further back. So, no way in hell it works for 292 and 250. I went and looked at my line collection and I have one that will work for a 1967 250 with 1BV and another that will work with 1967 292 with 1BV. I have a third line that I remembered will fit my 1968 with the 1BV, but won't work with my HEI distributor. I wish it had a part number on it, I'd let you know what it is. I checked inline tube and classic tube(the picture of the one 1967cstblazer posted is very hard to tell if it looks like my line that would fit.) I looked at classicparts.com and they don't have pictures of all of their lines. I'm 90% sure the line I have that fits 1967 292 with 1BV came from ClassicIndustries, I think I bought it in their showroom in California. |

I went' back to GMCPauls and see, when you go to add to cart, it lets you select 250 or 292, so maybe they are right...

Re: 1968 GMC 250 Fuel Line
Here's another example -
https://www.inlinetube.com/products/ctc6703 I have a line with this part number on it. It will not fit the 1968 with 250 and 1MV. It appears it will fit the 1BV. The good news, if you ordered this from Inline Tube and you get it and it doesn't work, You can email them and tell them that it doesn't work and you want to send in your existing tube to get duplicated instead they will duplicate your old line. Or, you can just send them your old line for duplication. I'm not sure how you initiate that, but you could email them and ask. |

I would have thought this would be the same as a 250-6 Chevelle, Nova, or Camaro?
