dumb question on exhaust systems
I have an 87 engine in my '71 - I want to replace the entire exhaust system including going with headers. So when I order it do I order for a 71 so that it fits the design of the truck OR do i order for the engine - There shouldn't be any difference in headers for a 71 and a 87 should there? Plus if anyone has an entire exhaust set up w/headers for a LWB shoot me a PM.

I think you would order the headers for the 71. The engines are the same but the frames may not be the same?

Definetly order for the 71.

What about air injection? Does it have AC? Keep this in mind, when ordering because headers for the 71 won't go on the engine as easy as headers for an 87. Ask the vendor about the differences there could be between the two different sets of headers.

2 pieces of advice I would like to verbalize.
1. Hedman Headers 2. find a local speed shop & ask them. they need our support.

Hooker makes some bad ass headers too...but they are not cheap.
The funny thing is here, most header companies list the headers for 67 - 87. |

I am running some full length headers out of a 80's burb. Fit fine after some new motor mounts. Not sure on the brand, but look similar to my bro's flotech's.
