Steering column to dash mount/support - am I missing something?
Had to remove the steering column, just to do a general rebuild. It’s obvious somebody has had it out before. Reinstalling the column I noticed it is significantly left of center of the gauge panel when everything is tightened up and done. Something is not right here.Is there supposed to be some kind of a rubber mount or something above the column where it bolts to the dash support to center it?

Just these 3 brackets. The black one is just a trim piece.

This is what it looks like. You can see the witness mark on the gauge face panel, it has been like this for a long time, maybe it’s even normal? The problem is the black trim piece that holds the rubber in place isn’t even close to fitting the holes properly. Everything bolts up just fine. Wondering if the saddle that the steering column bolts to under the dash is adjustable In some way?

There is no adjustment on those parts. They will only fit one way. If a guy managed to install the smaller column bracket the wrong way it would probably throw it off center a little but I don't think you could get the bolts in if it was backwards. .

You are correct, it’s impossible to put that bracket on Backwards, it won’t even come to allowing bolts to fit. That said, I will take a closer look and see if there’s a chance that bracket got bent somehow(?) Thanks for the reply!

You could try loosening all of the attachment fasteners for your pedal assembly to see if you can get it to scoot to the right a little. There are four nuts on the firewall for the brake master cylinder and below it, one bolt on the inside of the firewall behind the gauge cluster, and two bolts into the bottom edge of the dash.
