1970 Chevy k20 front drums
Anyone know if these rear drums part number BrakeBest Select Brake Drum - 9625DGS from a dodge 3/4 ton van fit the front of my 1970 Chevy k20 with Dana 44 open knuckles front axle? I know there was an older thread but I want to make sure they fit good and work before I possibly buy them. Thanks

Re: 1970 Chevy k20 front drums
At my NAPA store I was sent home with the wrong Dana60 shoes twice. I brought my shoes in and the better parts man grabbed a book that had drawings and dimensions or various shoes. For an 8-lug it's all about the diameter and surface width. Your drums should have "max dia" stamped on the back edge. Mine said 12.125", so 12" drums allowing for 1/8" machining

Re: 1970 Chevy k20 front drums
I am not sure about the open knuckle dana 44 with drums, but for my closed knuckle dana 44 on my 1967 K20, the Raybestos 2008R drums were a fit. I did have to drill out the lug holes and ream them as I have upgraded the studs to 9/16" but the drums themselves fit over the shoes perfectly. I believe that this drum was used on 1950's Chevy 3/4 tons, but I am not 100%.

Ok thanks probably won’t work I’m thinking I’ll possibly try the oreillys part number drums and see if they work if not I’ll probably return them.

Re: 1970 Chevy k20 front drums
Factory length studs are fine on the front. When you get to the rear it may be a different issue. I had to bump it up there to have enough. I don't have the Dorman numbers with me at work, but I could post later if needed. There are a few threads that document the rear stud problem.

Re: 1970 Chevy k20 front drums
Yeah I have different ones for the back I was just more worried/concerned about the front because they are basically impossible to find and since these work for the front I’m going to buy these.

Re: 1970 Chevy k20 front drums
Raybestos 2009R works for the rear, but the Eaton is a different animal altogether. Many threads on here are very helpful with that. You can see my set up with the longer studs.

Re: 1970 Chevy k20 front drums
Yes. The rear axle. You most likely have an Eaton H052 axle with either 4.56s or 4.10s.

Mine came factory with a 350 SBC and 2 barrel carb along with a 4 speed manual. That’s all I know about it.

Any list of art that transcends generations will include the walking liberty half dollar, Bach's cello suites, Neuschwanstein castle, Rubens's The Descent From the Cross, and a Hall Brothers truck.
