Re: 1969 GMC.. right off the farm

Then started sanding the cab. Worked most of drivers side, not trying to strip all the way down to bare metal, but just want to get it to a smooth starting point.

The cab has only had 1 re spray, it was definitely maroon poly from the factory before it got re-sprayed red

Nice work, curious to see how your fauxtina paint goes.

Good luck, Rg

Thanks, I'm thinking very subtle. Just want it to look worn in, maybe get the black or primer to poke through in a couple spots.

Re: 1969 GMC.. right off the farm

Made a separate thread but posting here if anyone knows as well..

Hi, I'm wondering if I have my rear bumper brackets on correct? Truck is a 1969 GMC SWB with leaf springs. This is the only orientation that I could find that works for the brackets, and matched a picture that I found on an older thread.

Is the bumper supposed to stick this far out past the tailgate? There is a huge space there. Not sure if I have an incorrect combination of bumper/brackets?

Any feedback on if this is how it is supposed to look or if I'll need to buy a different bumper/brackets?

Re: 1969 GMC.. right off the farm

Determined that my bumper brackets are in fact for a coil spring truck. Needed to cut/slot them to pull the bumper in closer to the truck. More notes here: https://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/...d.php?t=852610

Otherwise, I've got the interior pretty much done for now. Will grab some pics this weekend.

Cab wise, I rattle canned some red oxide primer, then flat black, then rustoleum 'dark hunter green'. Layered it like this so I can do some wet sanding aging, but going to let the paint cure for a few weeks.

Have actually been driving it around town a little bit. Really happy with how the suspension, brakes, power steering all feels. Tuned up the carb a bit and seems to be running well!

Nice work, the dark green with cream wheels is eye-catching. Rg
