Question Bell housing install?

So I pulled my trans and Bell housing out of my 67 GMC. No I'm in the process putting it back together. I had to fight the Bell housing out of the truck. What's the best way to put this back in?

Re: Bell housing install?

I get some long bolts, like 5 inches or so, and cut off the heads (2 bolts needed). Then I cut a slot in them and chamfer the ends. I thread the bolts into the lower threads in the block. Now I have guide pins to help guide the bell housing into place. The slots allow me to use a screwdriver to remove them once the other bolts are in place.
