1966 C30 Longbed 1 Ton
Greetings Everyone,
First, about me. I am 33 years old living in Charleston, SC. I was a mechanic for quite a while before i decided to try something else and go get my mechanical engineering degree. I currently work for a company making cordless power tools for a living. I have recently taken a huge interest in classic pickup trucks after driving my friends 77 C10 longbed. 5 minutes behind the wheel and i was hooked. Most of my mechanic experience was spent at import/European repair shops, and a 2 year stint somewhere in there at a tuning/race shop. Having easy access to the engine bay and parts is quite a change of pace. Last week i purchased this beauty about 2.5 hours inland. Has a 250ci Inline 6 with a 4 speed on the floor. From my understanding not many of these were made and those that were didnt make it off the job sites. Haven't been able to find much in the way of any of these for sale or even still alive. My plans are to bring this truck back to original condition, don't think a hot rod is quite right for this car. After the 2.5 hour drive home I found it to be leaking oil pretty badly from the front and rear main seals as well as the oil pan so that will be the first to tackle. All around the truck is in pretty decent condition with some minor rust spots here and there. Frame is in great condition and looks like it was sprayed with an undercoat at some point. Look forward to meeting you all and give me a shout if your in my area. Cheers! Last edited by KosherpickleKev; 07-24-2024 at 10:52 AM. |

Re: 1966 C30 Longbed 1 Ton
Great score, my 1st truck was a 66 1 ton same body style but with a 283. Execelent truck, a bit of a stiff ride. Mine would get stuck on a wet leaf, geared with a 456 rear, 60mph was about top speed. I probably still have the tire chains, snow salt and mud, not good for longevity.
