Re: tremec tkx into 1972 c10?
Late update. i figured you guys would like to hear the progress ive made on the tkx swap. its been going well, other than crashing my skull through the bellhousing getting the runnout right. ive managed to get it within .0035, within tolerance. today I've been fiddling around with my shifter handle getting it all ironed out to how i like it. Ive been test shifting it alot, does anyone know if this actually causes damage?

Yeah, its addicting to shift it . ill lay off of dry shifting until i add oil to er. super excited to get this thing on the road. time to fab up a crossmember and shorten my previously shortened two piece. shortened it the first time with no vibrations going 75, heres hoping for the second time .

Re: tremec tkx into 1972 c10?
Another little update, Bought a driveshaft from southwest speed. Pretty good prices imho. 300 for 3 inch aluminum driveshaft heres hoping it gets here before the weekend . If it also helps anyone on my swb 1972 c10 with a tkx lowered 5 inches in the back and at ride height i measured 59 and 1/8" from edge of tailshaft housing to the center of u joint at the differential yoke.

Re: tremec tkx into 1972 c10?
finally got the tkx installed on wensday. boy does this shift nice. i love how the mid shift puts it in a factory appearing location. have to learn to shift a transmission this nice. the gates are a little unforgiving. keep on missing 2nd sometimes oh well. just have to learn.

Re: tremec tkx into 1972 c10?
Congratulations. It's a big upgrade. Which mid-shifter did you end up going with? I'm surprised that the 1-2 shift is giving you trouble since 2 is just straight back from 1. I had trouble with the Race Tuning mid-shifter on the 2-3 shift because the centering springs were weak so I'd have to search for 3.

Re: tremec tkx into 1972 c10?
i have no problems shifting it now. it finally clicked with me how to shift it. pull straight down to 2nd fast. dont let it get an opportunity to go back to neutral. had some fun tearing up the old proving grounds near my house :lol

Re: tremec tkx into 1972 c10?
Before this tkx all i ever driven with a manual was a slushbox 90's ford ranger with a 5 speed and a 4 banger, that was something else, each gear felt like a neutral. and of course my 3 on the tree. This tkx is something else. Also ive been following your build on that 68 and man does it look good. Serves as good inspiration as to what i want to do to mine. Those bucket seats with the center console look amazing in these trucks, also going planning to paint mine factory medium blue with a white top and run top trim. Ive also started shaving my factory marker lights. Ive always loved the 67's with no marker lights but like the 71 and 72 grills. so i thought why not have both?
