Re: heater core leaking.........grrrr
I swapped out mine using a heater core I got from NAPA auto parts. This is the video I used to do the swap:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ec5aIn1MmrY Allot yourself the time necessary to do this swap. Lay down some towels or rags over the interior carpet, just in case you spill some residual coolant. I took photos step-by-step and labeled and marked everything I could. Clean up everything as you go. It was a solid four hour job. Take your time and take a breather if you get frustrated. Once you complete the job, you'll be surprised how satisfying it was to do it.

You might be able to fix it. Maybe look at it.

Here is a forum thread on the subject: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=460942
AC equipped truck although heat only isn't that much different. I have replaced both types. One thing to watch is that many replacement heater cores are of the "One size fits many" type and may need a bit of gap sealing to get the best air flow performance. As mentioned above, allot several hours for the task. Take breaks. When finished, check nearby wiring and such to make sure elbows didn't knock something loose while you were reaching for one of those hard to get at nuts. |

Re: heater core leaking.........grrrr
Living in Cali my heater core started leaking some thirty years ago, at the time I just disconnected the hoses to swap it out at a later date since it was the middle of summer, still wondering when I'll get to it.

Re: heater core leaking.........grrrr
Just did ours in the 91 crew cab.
Did it all from the glovebox. Except the 2 nuts from under the ac suitcase. Used an aluminum core works ok so far.
