Changing steering column from manual to auto

Are there different columns for different trucks? as far as length? or one piece shafts? the column i am taking out is from a 3 speed column but the shaft was a one piece from the steering box to the steering wheel. I have two or three other columns for this model truck (69) but i don't have the end piece(s) to connect to the steering box. HELP!!

Yes, some of the 3 speed columns were straight 1 piece top to bottom, and some were the shorter coulumns with an intermediate shaft to make up the difference in length down to the box.

You need an intermediate shaft, try posting a WTB ad on the parts board. They're very common.

On one of your extra 67-70 auto columns would you have a good indicator pointer that screws to the column and has the light wire to the dash socket with it? The pointer part is the plastic one screw held piece used behind the chrome top dial position indicator. I know it would take a little bit to carefully remove that fibre optic wire from the column without damaging but I would be willing to remove and send you the good lower steeering short shaft you need?
