Re: Lets see pics of your truck hauling!!

Hello Nate,

Thanks for the suggestions about fuel etc. Much appreciated !!

I likely will be okay when I do get to working on it. There is no fuel tank or muffler (to do list). The seller used it at swap meets and similar gatherings to power a fresh baked pizza business. He 'installed' an inline electric pump to feed the injector pump. He just pumped fuel from a separate container. Probably a large fuel can.

Here is a view of the nameplate on the generator:

Name: IMG_3168.jpg
Views: 58
Size: 52.2 KB

Its rated at 20 KW and 25 KVA 230 volt 3 PH 62.5 amps

What I particularly like about it is it only runs at 1200 RPM. not like 'modern' generators that run at 3600 RPM with the resulting shorter life.

When I was looking for a generator I came across discussions about these units. They were surplus-ed out by the railroads from their refrigerated box cars. I thought I was too late to find one cuz a lot of people with deeper pockets than me had bought them by the tractor trailer loads to pretty them up for a big dollar resale.

I remember seeing one photo of a 40 foot flatbed semi-trailer being totally taken up with units like this one from the tractor to the very end.

I'm not offended about your asking price ....... I've a much thicker skin than that, but I appreciate your concern!

I haven't been able to find the file folder that I had created for the genset to look up the exact price (lost in computer problem) but I'm fairly certain it was $1250.00 about 8 - 10 years ago.

To go get it I rented a double axle U-haul car trailer and told them I was hauling a VW bug. I guess this was a just a touch heavier!
