California fires
Been watching the reports and my wife is in contact with the few relatives we have down there. So scary, I hope you are all safe.

Re: California fires
I'm about 15 miles from the Palisades fire, as the crow flies. We are relatively safe. In '03, fire burned all the way around our valley and only got to some of the stuff in the hills. Of course, we didn't have winds like are whipping this fire around, back then. Thanks for your concern!

I've been watching a few videos too. Crazy stuff for sure. I hope we don't have any members in that area.

Re: California fires
Daily watching on the tv. It's one thing for it to happen out in the rural areas but to see it happening in the large cities is scary. 100 mph winds pushing the flames. There's no defense. It's devastating. Prayers for all.

Re: California fires
Arriving to work yesterday morning by the Eaton Fire. Power out and wind damage around the area. Obviously, I didn`t have anyone work yesterday. But everything is pretty much back to normal, with plenty of clean-up to do.
Thoughts and prayers go out to the people who lost their homes. |

Re: California fires
That is scary for sure.
I seen some of the Devastation on TV last night. All the cars that has to be abandoned. That had to be frightful leaving a car to escape the fire on foot. Prayers for all that are affected by this.

Re: California fires
I personally suspect arson. Too many fires in such a short time. But we'll just have to wait and see what shakes out of the investigations.

Re: California fires
Looks like a disaster
Glad I moved out of Ca years ago. My property was up against the Ortega mountains Lake Elsinore area. I had huge eucalyptus and pine trees. Been through several fires. Lucky my place never burned up. Almost a couple times. Got sprayed with Phos-Chek twice.... Nerve racking, scary sheet Watching those huge DC-10 Air Tanker fly like fighter jets low into the canyons is incredible https://youtu.be/7QJTZXl_5BE ..

.
Truly a terrible situation. However...be careful watching mainstream media as they are sensationalizing things quite a bit. Watch this guy's updates on the matter as he definitely tells you how it is....not how the media wants you to think it is. https://youtu.be/gunenpZ5JuE?si=_Ds-lOAFQV9NkMVB He's mostly into aviation but also covers certain other newsworthy events...such as the CA fires. -Kevin

Re: California fires
I watched most of the video, but I'm getting overwhelmed here with all the reporting. Several spot fires have popped up around here. One neighbor had a planter in their back yard catch fire. I really hope they contacted the PD and FD about it. I'm still calling arson. We're many miles from the big fires.
I will comment on him saying that water dropped from a plane evaporates before it reaches the ground. Water drops are not effectual if the water actually lands on the fire. The point is to cool the fire and deprive it of oxygen. Doesn't matter where one goes on the internet, take a virtual grain of salt along.

Re: California fires
You have 18 mil people down there. Think about all the fires that start everyday that dont get out of hand because super high winds are not present. Cigs, homeless, cat coverters, trailer chains, hot brakes, squirrel in the lines, that extension cord to the backyard fountian, lawn mower blade on a rock, fireworks, tannerite and target shooting, turkey fry in the garage. Those are all fires that have happened around me.

I am thankful that we have power again tonight. The NG generator that gets us by with almost 10kw has a break after running for over 2 days. Due to a public safety power shutdown. I drove a few blocks and others had power? I see no rational reasoning for this. I pray for those that have lost pretty much everything in this disaster. While it may not have been prevented, the devastation could have been less with more care for Californians well being.
