"getting" old is good Mike. When you stop getting old you've got a problem.

I ordered 5# of GOOD dark baking chocolate yesterday. It is supposed to be one of the 3 best brands for tempering. I am going to make some chocolate covered marshmallows, mounds, almond joys, and fruit. I have never tempered chocolate before so it will be a learning experience. If it is a success I will post some pictures.

Thrifty is the BEST!! I have some in the freezer right now.

It's funny, when Rite Aid bought out Thrifty Drug Stores they changed the name on everything except the ice cream. It's still the same... except the price, but it's still not too expensive. They didn't mess with a good thing.

Re: Favorite Candy

Many yrs ago Mom and Dad took Granny to Switzerland, and a bunch other of them foreign places..
They brought back some real live swiss chocolate...I'll have to say , for chocolate, that's probably the best I've ever ate...it was soooooo good..
And I'm with Leon, butterfinger Icecream is great..
And a fresh butterfinger is great by itself, but if the get hard they're no longer good to me

Well, I tempered a little bit of my chocolate today and made a few Chocolate covered marshmallows, cherries, and peanut clusters. Hard to believe but only one of the peanut clusters made it to the picture stage.... ... (my wife found them)...

This was just a test and I thought they came out pretty good. I will have to dip the cherries twice to keep them from leaking the syrup from the pin holes.

Recent trip to WM. They're not so popular here. The rest of the shelves look like they had been ransacked, or that Paul had been there... sorry man, jk ; ) Now, for those of you who are missing their zero bars... Let me know what you need: "We are the dealers, we'll give you everything you need."

Now you guys did it. I am going to have to make some more STUFF.....

My wife makes a lot of candy around Christmas time so I don't make any until that is all gone. There is one small ziplock bag in the freezer yet. She makes fudge, peanut clusters, toffee, and peanut brittle. She does a good job on the candy.

Re: Favorite Candy

Zeros have been around since at least the 1960s when I first had them. I had one a few years ago and no, they do not taste like they once did.
Not many things do it seems.
French burnt peanuts still taste the same though.
Every year or ten I get the hankering for those orange jell slices covered in sugar. A few of those and I'm done for another year or ten.
Double dipped peanuts and peanut clusters have long been favorites of mine.
