Re: 1942 Chevrolet Flatbed that ate My Brain
I am trying to figure out the fuel lines. The fuel lines on the tank are the type that have a rubber seal. The TBI has the same. I will look at fuel line and adapters online and see if there is something that will work. Any ideas where to look?

I started to work on the shifter. It is an American Shifter from the Hoffman Group. I now everyone says they are junk but I put it together and called tech support and it is working out so far

Re: 1942 Chevrolet Flatbed that ate My Brain
Fuel and return line are done. Not sure what to do with the vent lines. Started cleaning the transmission. I had a bunch of different products and Purple Power seemed to work well. I will post a pic when clean. I installed an energy transmission mount. Now the engine and trans are locked in. I really need to mount the cab in its finished location, so I started trying to figure that out. When this body was on this frame before I only had the radiator locked in. This next week I will measure the distance of the fender holes to the top of the running board. That should give me the correct cab height. I dont remember if the top of the radiator support is level with the cab at the hood mounting locations. I also dont remember what the space is between the cab rocker and the top of the running board. I will post more pics

Re: 1942 Chevrolet Flatbed that ate My Brain
This is the trans cleaned up a little better.
Also my wood spacers made out of Ash. The rear pic shows my weld on bracket with another wood block. Very close to factory style. At some point I may switch to rubber.

Re: 1942 Chevrolet Flatbed that ate My Brain
I removed the drive shaft. The one that was installed was for a th350. Now my trans is a th400. Trying to figure out how to separate the bearing from the shaft or cut the end off and weld on the th400 drive shaft end. Any thoughts?

Re: 1942 Chevrolet Flatbed that ate My Brain
I think I am going to install a ring of metal here to give a little more strength to the frame.

Cut the drive shaft end off. Slid the th400 onto the other driveshaft

Re: 1942 Chevrolet Flatbed that ate My Brain
Since the last post I have got the motor running. Installed exhaust. Trying to sort out the charging system. Big red off the alternator goes to my battery fuse block then to battery. I have a fuse-able link for the ECU. So we are good there. The CS130 alternator has to additional wires. The brown wire goes to a light then to the ignition on post on the key switch. There is an additional pink and black wire. I wasnt sure where it goes. I have parts of the original harness and I followed it. The pink and black attach to the ALDL. The after market harness I am using for my engine management has the pink and black on the ALDL already. I am wondering if the new harness gets its charging system info from some where else and this wire doesnt need to be attached.
On my TBI I have a blocked off port that used to go to the purge tank. I also have a tank vent line blocked off that used to run to the same tank. Can I just attach the two together? Seems like the engine vacuum drawing fuel vapor un restricted may cause bad mileage and a hotter engine. What do you think?

Re: 1942 Chevrolet Flatbed that ate My Brain
The engine harness is stand alone so I am removing all the rest of the wires and starting over. I talked to the tech who did my fuel injection system and he said to attach the small vent tube to the small port under the pvc port since it is not full vacuum. The red wire from the alternator is supposed to go to the starter battery post, because it produces over 80 amps. I am going to start installing a better harness using the painless version. It is way better and the directions are very good.
One question about running a thermostat controlled fan switch and a temp gauge sensor. how are you doing it? My th400 has a kick down switch what are you guys using to control that with a TBI?
