I think I only got 4" out of my flipkit!! WTF?
OK, how do you measure how much drop you got with a flipkit? It's from the bottom of the spring pack, to the centerpoint of the axle tube, right? If so, it's 4" at best. (Looks more like 3.75" though)
Is that right?? or am I measuring it wrong? |

top of springs to bottom of axle tube if your flip is already in. so you should be right around 6" taking your 4" and adding half an axle tube. you've gone down a whole axle tube and the whole stack of springs.

The proper way would have been to measure from the center of the wheel to the fender lip (Both sides) before/after installing the flip kit.

Well, ok then...before, I had 32" AT tires on it, and the fenders were ~2" away from the tops of the tires. So, divide that in half, and it's 18" from center-to-fender. NOW I have 28" tires with the flipkit, and the fenders are ~1" away from the tops of the tires. That's 15"...See what I'm saying?

nevermind, now that I look back at the picture, my rear fender was about 4" above the tire, so that would be 20", and now it's at 15"...so it's all good.

Finally, after everyone offers their input you claim everything is 'cool' now because of a mystery photo indicating that you now have 5" drop from your 4" flip (yet another of your 'estimates'). Do it right--remove the flip kit, take some measurements with the tires/wheels you plan to run, install the flip kit and then measure. Better yet, look at it now, if you like the stance leave it the hell alone and not concern yourself with (.25 inches)--go fix somthing else on your ride. I'm sorry if this seems rude but what's the point????? |
