Do I need a fuel pressure regulator?
I keep reading that the Rochester carb likes lower fuel pressure around 6-8 lbs? Does a replacement fuel plump provide too much pressure and should I put in a regulator or just a pressure gauge for now or neither is really needed.

Re: Do I need a fuel pressure regulator?
Possible your vacuum gauge includes a fuel pressure function. Used to be a common combo. Does it have a 2nd arc of numbers from 0~8 or such?
If the pump is working correctly, then a Q-jet shouldn't need a regulator. BUT we all know that QA is a often skipped step these days. |

Re: Do I need a fuel pressure regulator?
I've used them before without any regulation, but this last engine I put on an Edelbrock fuel pump that is supposed to limit fuel pressure without a regulator. I have the part number in the garage if you want it.
If you do run a regulator don't get the round dial type. The gaskets fail and pose a fire risk.
