My problem *seemed to arose when I put a new fuel pump.
I'm in the process of getting a regulator setup.

Good deal. I used stainless braided covered hose from the fuel pump to the regulator, then a short section to jump from the gauge to the hard line with filter. Definitely not a fan of the long exposed rubber hoses used in the fuel regulator shoot out video:

Here's a pic of my setup. I'll probably hear some chirping about the Mr Gasket regulator, but it works and I keep an eye on it. Good idea to have a fire extinguisher under the seat.
