Re: Help: New suspension is almost un-driveable
I bought a set from Alcan after having all my teeth rattle out with a tough county lift. The 2 in all spring lift ride really nicely. I still have too much bounce but I looking at some better shocks to fix that.

50 is still going to be really bouncy. I run mine at 30. I've gone as low as 25 on the road without any abnormal wear.

Re: Help: New suspension is almost un-driveable
How stiff did these trucks ride from the factory? My truck also rattles my fillings out, but it has factory springs with some lift blocks and aftermarket shocks. Maybe I need to do some investigating myself.

Re: Help: New suspension is almost un-driveable
Wondering if you ever solved this one. Finally catching back up on some forum reading (been off here for a while). The tires have too much air in them; 35psi on a 12" wide tire for a truck only weighing 4000# is a lot. A 20" wheel does not help, you lost a lot of sidewall versus what was most likely a 15" wheel from the factory (although I acknowledge that your sidewall height did not change much).
I will echo what others said about springs; I have Alcans on my wheeling rig and they ride superbly. They have many thin leaves instead of just a few thick ones, a military wrap on the front eye and friction pads in between all the leaves. Years ago I even sent them back to Alcan for a refresh (disassembly, blasting, painting, all new pads and keepers) and they still ride great. Absolutely worth the investment.
