Tapped some more maples . No sap running yet last year at this time I had already done 3 gallons of syrup. Fear it’s going to be a bad harvest.

We've been back east in the fall a few times. Went to a few small places that had tapped the trees and were making syrup. It was pretty interesting. The syrup is a little different than Mrs Buttersworth

I always wonder where this practice started. Who thought lets drain the liquid out of this tree and make goodness out of it?

That is just Messed Up.

I avoid Fed ex if I have a Choice.

Sometimes that is the only carrier a company uses.

And from what I read this weekend, we're about to have even less choices about how our mail and parcels are delivered if the new "administration" gets it's way with USPS. I'll stop there..

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

I was outside in a T shirt all day sorting through one of my sheds . I have too many stashes of 67-72 parts scattered around . I'm finding stuff I forgot I had and finding things I wondered why I'm keeping. I was looking for parts for my newest project . I've found some of what I know I need, but am still looking for some. I need to get things organized and get stuff put back where it belongs. I'm really bad about working 'til it's time go in and just stick things inside the door of a shed. Of coarse cold weather doesn't help high 60's Today and Tomorrow then back with a high of 41 on Wednesday.

I can relate. I do the same thing. Then it takes me two days to put everything away.

Mid to upper 50's all week here.

I wish I could get it done in two days. I probably couldn't get it done in a week. I have four small sheds and other stuff just stacked on makeshift shelves outside.

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

Always something yesterday my Frontier lost power CEL and traction control light came on . Pulled the code it’s the left bank cam sensor . Seems the traction control light comes on with it too as far as I can tell from searching the net . Ordered both from Rockauto they were 20$ cheaper on each one over other sites I bought Hitachi brand . Should be here tomorrow or Thursday. It was easier than I expected to get the right side one out hopefully the left will be also .

Put the final touches on our Federal & State taxes and E-filed using TurboTax again this year. Investments made a little more so we're paying instead of getting refunds. It's all good.

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

The wife has been using turbo tax for year with no issues. However she filed ours last weekend only to be rejected 4 times. If the fed rejects, so does state. She re-entered the same info all 4 times and it was finally accepted.
One of my kid's coworkers had trouble and finally resorted to calling them. It took many calls to get connected to anyone and when he did they kept telling him they could not hear him. He tried using his friend's phone only to get the same thing. I know it's the busiest time for them but we may need to search out another option next year.

My wife started throwing funds in a 401k the day she got her first job out of collage. After changing jobs a few times and starting other investment funds, over the years, she had several to deal with. I was self employed when we met/married 1992/1995 until 2013 too, so figuring all that out was WAY over our heads. We have been paying professional tax people to do this and file electronically for quite a few years now. Any mistakes or questions, it's on them, unless we legitimately owe more, but never have. Yep, it costs more than we like to pay, but peace of mind is valuable too.

I do my own taxes. I used to use Turbo Tax and switched over to H&R Block a few years ago. I have been happy with it so far. I never do mine until the end of March. I filed mine early one year then some changes came through on an update and I had to file an amended return. Don't want to do that again....

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

I used to do our taxes up until I commuted to work and spent months at a time away from home for my job. The wife paid the bills and started doing the taxes. After I retired, we have invested my 401(k) and pension lump sum, and other items. We have a CPA doing it now, and doing it well. We live on Social Security and a bit of mandatory distribution money. I have people who manage the investments, as well. They know the industry, and I don't.

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

Initially I used to do our taxes years ago as it was just me working, wife stayed home with the boys. After we became empty nesters I still did our own taxes up to the point I retired. Decided then with our S/S income and investments I knew just enough to be dangerous with tax laws and allowances constantly being revised. Have a local CPA do our taxes now and pay for his expertise and know how which is much more than mine. He files them electronically, a one and done stop in and visit. Works well for us.
