1966 Chevy K10 suburban - auxiliary off-road lighting
My personal requirements:
1.I wanted LED technology and they had to be round style. I'm not a fan of lightbars, square LED lights or mounting the lights all over the outside on vintage 4x4's. 2.Attempt to hide the lighting as much as possible 1.Lights used: 6 inch generic no-name brand LED off-road lights purchased on Amazon, there are hundreds of different choices. They were affordable, very good quality, extremely bright (they turn night time into day time which was the goal). They came with a removeable rock/brush guard and very nice wiring harness. 2.I mounted them behind the grill, utilizing one of the lower existing core support bolts. This kept them close to the headlights, and did not obstruct air flow to the radiator or the ability to install a winch some day down the road. Lights: Close up shots: Front view: Lights On:

Looks good man but I wonder how the grill is going to affect the light output and pattern, I take it you don't like the look of them on the bumper or don't want to drill new holes though.
I kinda wanted to take older KC lights and swap out the guts with modern LED's but by the time you bought decent KC's to tear apart and the new LED's it was just cheaper to go with a light bar and it would keep the truck a bit shorter overall height. |

Re: 1966 Chevy K10 suburban - auxiliary off-road lighting
It's a valid point/question. The light output pattern is slightly reduced being behind the grill but because these lights have both a focused and flood output and are so bright, I still getting plenty of light output to satisfy my needs. It's true I don't much like the look of them on the bumper but more importantly, I am trying to keep that area clear for a winch with fairlead in the original bumper.
